National womens' Strategy
The Department of Justice and Equality has undertaken a public consultation to inform the preparation of a new National Women's Strategy for the period from 2017 to 2020.
We made a submission to this as part of the public consultation process which focussed on reproductive rights.
The citizens' assembly
The Citizens' Assembly is an exercise in deliberative democracy, one of the topics covered if the 8th amendment.
The conclusions of the assembly will form the basis of a number of reports and recommendations that will be submitted to the Houses of the Oireachtas for further debate by our elected representatives.
We have held two open meetings in London, each with 250-300 people in attedance.
We have hosted speakers from the Coalition to Repeal the 8th Amendment, BPAS, Queen Mary University London Law School, Birmingham University Law School, The Abortion Rights Campaign, Speaking of Imelda and Doctors for Choice.
